Work with wool day...

Today was work with wool day at the Meyer house.

I started making a Pendleton wool bag. The fabric was a splurge from my Christmas money. I still have more fabric to use. Today's projects was a great overnight size tote.

Then I moved on to cowls. There is one in the beautiful black and gray plaid Pendleton shirting with a black cotton backing lengthened by the very last if my wood print dots from Nani Iro's double gauze. The other cowl is from four fat quarters bought at Fancy Tiger on sale in September. I had struggled with the way to join them. Today with Olfa cutter in hand, it all came together. Very happy with the blue/gray/green/plaid combination and its very warm even with the black cotton backing.

Good warm projects for a cold day.

Finished projects

At the end of a project, the remnants tell their own story. I love the small piles of thread or yarn that grow through the finishing process.
The last loved pieces in the process of creating.

Christmas Crafting is complete!

The last gift is complete. Ends are woven, tails cut, needles put away, and all projects de-Roscoed.

Off to wrap the gifts and hope they are loved with the same degree of love that they are made with...

My favorite detail of the season

Every year my husband takes the low boughs and makes wreaths for our cars (and the front door).
I love having the wreath on my car during the holiday season! One of those lovely holiday details.

Beautiful slow gifts

The first of my slow gifts for the holiday is finished. It is packed and ready to head to my dad in the desert.
I am so pleased with the details and overall with the shirt.

Decoy sewing

My first Alabama sweater is finished. I cut a few of these at Studio Week. While I am continuing with covert crafting for Christmas gifts, there is decoy crafting. This is the first completed decoy project.
I am especially happy with how my cretin stitch is becoming more even.

V.1

It's rough but exactly what Bill asked for. Not sure if the v is version or victory. Now will consult my notes to try for a matching left mitt.

Beauty in the bark

Roscoe helped me find this tree in our neighborhood. Sitting in some amorphous space in the cycle of living and dying. The way the bark and the knots combine reminds me of Irish Aran sweaters. Beauty in the bark.

Craftsy Video - d1

First day of my Craftsy video shoot.
Always nice to start the day with origami cranes of peace greeting us.

My set. A nice place to work.

After makeup and before the shoot, then what was under the cute outfit that you see on the shoot.

In the end, I need to think faster on my feet, it was a great team effort and I look forward to tomorrow!

Oh my, it's been a long time...

As I get ready to start on the next adventures of my crafting life, it feels like it is time to start blogging again.

Over the past several years, I have knit TONS, started to sew a bit (very humbling both by machine and by hand), turned into a busy knitting teacher and done some other crafty things. Some of this you can find on Craftsy.com or Ravlery.com - but really most of it has just been mine.

Lately, for my real job and to expand my crafting, I have been re-finding the desire to blog. It will help me with my writing on the professional side and give me an outlet to express some of the reasons, emotions and pride that comes with the small victories in my crafting.

As I look to future blogs, there is Studio Week at Alabama Chanin's Factory next week and then my Craftsy video shoot the first few days in December... Big things to come... Here are a few things that I have been working on...
